Al Sharpton is not exactly a MENSA candidate by the stretch of anyone’s imagination. He is, after all, the one-trick race-baiting pony who gave us legendary commentary in the form of ‘Resist we much.’
But a resurfaced take on the Founding Fathers trying to overthrow a tyrannical federal government is truly something to behold.
Sharpton, appearing on the only show on which he seems intelligent by comparison to the hosts, Morning Joe, revealed the depth of his ignorance about American history.
How? By imagining the outrage there would be if the Founding Fathers attempted to overthrow a tyrannical government. You know, like they actually did!
Al Sharpton Asks: Can you imagine if James Madison or Thomas Jefferson tried to overthrow the government?

Al Sharpton Isn’t That Bright
It’s important to point out again that this is a resurfaced video. Some outlets have portrayed it as new commentary by Al Sharpton. However, he is clearly responding to an indictment by former Special Counsel Jack Smith of Donald Trump for demanding election integrity. The clip is actually from August of 2023.
But it’s an important reminder that the man MSNBC gives credence to as a legitimate political analyst has absolutely no clue what he’s talking about.
“One day, our children’s children will read American history, and can you imagine our reading that James Madison or Thomas Jefferson tried to overthrow the government? So they could stay in power? That’s what we’re looking at, we’re looking at American history,” Mr. Sharpton said out loud, and apparently seriously.
President Madison, of course, is known as the “Father of the Constitution.” President Jefferson, of course, is the most famous insurrectionist, secessionist, and revolutionary in the world.
Also interesting to note is that Sharpton is holding up Jefferson as an example of integrity in his commentary.
You may recall that Sharpton called for an end to funding for the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, insisting it is “an insult to my family.”
“When you look at the fact that public monuments are supported by public funds, you’re asking me to subsidize the insult of my family. I would repeat that the public should not be paying to uphold somebody who has had that kind of background,” Sharpton told CBS host Charlie Rose in a 2017 interview.
Recently Tried To Organize a ‘Buycott’ For DEI-Supporting Costco – It Backfired
Al Sharpton recently demonstrated that when he tries to make a point, he is a failure of epic measures. A few weeks ago, he tried to organize a “buy-cott” at a Costco store in Harlem, New York, to show support for the company’s continued commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.
It didn’t turn out that great.
Social media users were less than amused seeing the noted tax cheat handing out free money to customers in an attempt to generate fake support for the store.
Several commentators called Sharpton’s involvement potentially detrimental to Costco’s reputation, dubbing it the “kiss of death.”

Other times, however, his stunts have brutal repercussions for the people involved.
Sharpton’s entire career began when he raised his profile by completely fabricating a race crime, backing Tawana Brawley in falsely accusing four white men of rape, destroying the lives of those accused.
He also started a protest at Freddie’s Fashion Mart that led one protester to attack the store, shoot several customers, and start a fire that killed seven employees.
